Legal Collections

When Collection Demands a Legal Response.

Some accounts do not respond to letters, calls, or credit bureau reporting. When standard collection methods have been exhausted, our in-house legal team is ready to take the next step.

When Legal Action Is Right

Not Every Account Needs a Courtroom. But Some Do.

Legal action is not the first step. It is the right step when other methods have failed and the account justifies the cost and effort. We assess every file strategically before recommending legal escalation.

Legal collection is most effective when the conditions are right. Here is what makes a strong candidate for legal action.

Ability to Pay

The debtor has the means to pay but is choosing not to. They are employed, own assets, or operate a business.

Well-Documented Debt

The debt is legitimate, properly documented, and within the limitation period. Strong documentation leads to strong outcomes in court.

Amount Justifies Court

The outstanding balance is large enough that the cost of legal action is justified by the potential recovery.

Judgment Needed

A court judgment creates legal enforcement options including wage garnishment, bank account seizure, and liens on property.

In-house Legal Capability

Legal Should Never Be An Afterthought

Our legal capability is not farmed out to a third-party law firm. It is built into our operation, staffed by experienced professionals, and designed to work seamlessly with our collection process.

Small Claims Expertise

We file and manage small claims actions across Ontario and Quebec. Our team knows the courts, the procedures, and the timelines inside and out.

In-House Paralegals

Our licensed paralegals handle filings, court appearances, and enforcement proceedings. No external referrals, no delays, no additional fees from outside counsel.

Experienced Legal Professionals

Our legal team brings decades of combined experience in debt recovery litigation. They have seen every defence, every delay tactic, and every excuse.

Strategic File Assessment

We do not file on every account. We assess each file for collectability, documentation strength, and cost-benefit before recommending legal action.

Seamless Escalation

Accounts move from standard collection to legal action within the same team. No re-submitting files, no explaining the history, no starting over with a new firm.

Client-Authorized Only

We never file legal action without your explicit authorization. You stay in control of every decision, and we provide the information you need to make it.

The Legal Process

From File Review to Recovery

Legal collection follows a structured, transparent process. You are informed at every stage and nothing happens without your approval.

File Review

Our legal team reviews the account file, assesses the documentation, evaluates the debtor's ability to pay, and determines whether legal action is recommended.

Client Authorization

We present our assessment and recommendation to you. If you authorize legal action, we proceed. If not, we continue with standard collection methods. You are always in control.

Formal Demand & Filing

A formal legal demand is issued to the debtor. If the demand does not produce payment, we file a claim in the appropriate court. Many debtors settle at this stage.

Court Representation

Our licensed paralegals represent your interests in court. We handle all appearances, filings, and procedural requirements on your behalf.

Judgment & Enforcement

Once a judgment is obtained, we pursue enforcement through wage garnishment, bank account seizure, property liens, and other available remedies under the law.

Remittance

Recovered funds are remitted to you in accordance with our standard trust accounting procedures. Full reporting accompanies every payment.

You Stay in Control

Legal action is never taken without your explicit authorization. We provide the assessment, the recommendation, and the information you need. You make the call.
